If you hide the PnP devices in the network manager these no longer are displayed. As of yet, I still have no idea what they are for and what they do.
I've just learned to live with them being displayed and cluttering up the network manager and have moved on to the more serious issue, at least for me, of the router and the problems with the attached USB Storage Link.
As I'm not quite ready to give up on them yet and if you have the money, buy their business network components. That's the stuff they are good at making. But, like I said, their business equipment is excellent.
By the way Sixpack, do you play SO Golf?

Hmm. Only the not so nice things I said about Linksys/Cisco's home networking equipment and a reference to their competitors equipment got deleted. I didn't even use foul language. Just stated my opinion in a nice and pleasant way. Oh well.
Ok, when you plug in an USB device to the attached network storage port you need to go into the router's webpage and set up a share. To setup the share click on the storage tab. You can create your own personal user(s) or just use the router's guest or admin account. After you set up the share you can access the USB device through your network manager or you can map it and then access it from windows explorer.
If you need more help let me know or do a search on my name and a general search.
SO Golf is Shot-Online Golf from Gamescampus.com. I only ask cuz I just played a couple of rounds of golf with a guy with the same name.

So what OS is not showing the HD? If it's Vista it won't show the drive unless you map it or add it to the network manager. Also, in the storage configuration page, click on administration and make sure the workgroup name is the same as you are using for your network.
Vista should at least display the router and you can double click on it and then click on your HD share. I.e. in my network manager Vista displays an icon named WRT610N. I can double click on this icon and see my attached USB drive and all of my shares. For my general share I have mapped it as the Z:/ drive.
If you go on the golf game, look me up as flux690a.
