So my WMP54G made my system freeze when opening various stuff especially when loading WoW.
The driver that was with the CD didn't work with 64bit, so I installed ralink's driver. But ralinks driver made Vista deep freeze, when loading various stuff.
This deep freeze seems to come from 64bit + Ralink + 4GB ram = Deep freeze
Everytime I took 1 stick of ram out the freezing stopped.
But anyway all this is over now, here's how you can try if it works for you too:
First: Do this guide http://forums.linksys.com/linksys...
Now you will be lag free, when playing games that requires big bandwidth. But this gave me deep freezing.
Second: Here is the real fix.
You have to go inside your BIOS, and edit your memory timings manually. My memory timings edited is 5-5-5-15 on 2.2volt.
How to get in the BIOS:
When you start your computer, then there will be some text saying "Press F2 to setup" or something like that. On my Asrock motherboard it is F2, it can be another button on your computer. It can be F1 or DEL, but anyway this shouldn't be hard for you ![]()
How to edit memory timings:
First you need to look on your RAM sticks, it should say on a little sticker how much VOLT a RAM stick needs.
If it doesn't or you don't want to open your computer to see, try Google your RAM's model name.
Now a RAM timing looks something like this 5-5-5-15.
5-5-5-15.
The first 5 number is CAS (CL) Timing
5-5-5-15
The second 5 is tRCD Timing
5-5-5-15
The third 5 is tRP Timing
5-5-5-15
And the last number 15 is tRAS Timing
It would be wise to write it down on a paper, if you plan on editing it.
Now you know what the RAM timings stand for, and if you haven't found it you should start finding out how much volt your RAM needs. And also if it says on your ram sticks a sequence like this 5-5-5-15 you should write it down.
Now restart computer and go into your BIOS, search the menu's for something like "Memory", "RAM", or CPU like I had to go into.
In there search for the words like CAS or tRP. It is from standard set to AUTO, just press enter on it and edit it to like 5.
You maybe have to go into motherboard, to edit the volt on the RAM.
And don't edit something I have not said if you don't know what you are doing!
Editing your RAM timings can't really harm your system, it wont blow up. If the computer start to behave unormally, or reduced performance when you sit at it, then set the stuff back to AUTO or just make the BIOS set to default.
My computer:
Phenom II X4 940
ASRock AOD790GX/128M
Radeon HD 4890 1GB
Kingston HyperX 2 x 2 GB CL5 PC1066(1066MHz)
Vista Ultimate 64Bit
And WMP54G
Everything you do is your responsibility, and I take no responsibility for your actions.
I Hope it works out for you.
If you need help, you can try write it here and maybe I can help you or some other can
Good luck and enjoy (hopefully) a system that doesn't deep freeze anymore.

Can anyone confirm that this actually works?
I am having the freezing problem.
no-one would be having a problem if they would just release 64-bit drivers
I am operating on windows 7 - 64 bit
