I recently upgraded my home network with a WRT610N dual band wireless router. In addition I have a laptop with a WPC600N dual band notebook adaptor and desktop computer with a WUSB600N dual band adaptor.
I previously was using a WRT54AG dual band router that was working quite well but I wanted a stronger signal and the use of N band. The new WRT610N is definitely an improvement and has a much stronger signal.
However looking at the available networks on my laptop and desktop I only see one band for 2.5GHz and one for 5 GHz. As an example on the desktop I can only see the N band in the 2.4 GHz frequency and I only see N band in the 5 GHz frequency.
On the Laptop I can only see the N band in the 2.4 GHz frequency and the A band in the 5 GHZ frequency.
Why can’t I see all the bands? The router is set to auto in both radio bands. I know that the 2.4 GHz “G” band is working because I get it on my Ipod Touch. I would like to be able to select any of the bands/frequencies I want.
Other than not being able to see all the bands (or not understanding why) I am very happy with my WRT610N. It was very easy to setup, was easy to update the firmware and it has a much stronger signal that my previous WRT

Bands are backward compatible you will see both the bands but within each band you will have access to the protocols listed below...
2.4GHZ = B/G/N...
5GHZ = A/N...
Leave both the Bands on Auto...
